Some days all I want to do is SLEEP! Seriously people take sleep for granted all too often...knock it off would you?!
I was asked tonight what my favorite part of school is...my response "being almost done." I then thought to myself what my least favorite part of school was and the answer is also "being almost done." It has been an amazing expierence so far and I have learned a multitude of things which is also the problem. It will be so nice not to be busy 8 days a week. I still have a two weeks of clinicals and 3 weeks of lecture to wrap it all up. I am so excited and scared to be done, the stress is hitting me hard over doing my state boards the dreaded 'NCLEX' test...But this too shall pass.I just want to be a normal mom who can hold my little man whenever I want. My heart aches when I call Kenny and he says he is holding my boy. Deagan cried for the first time in a very long while when he was dropped off at grandma greats house last week, I just climbed into my car and cried all the way to clinicals. I miss him. I was leaving for work the other day (leaving-I swear that is all I do) and Deagan just clung to me and said 'come' 'please?' 'coat?' Maybe careers aren't all they are cracked up to be. My heart is being torn in two and it seems to have been getting worse when I leave lately. I can't take this anymore!
Kenny is loving his new job and is learning a lot as well. He actually got his first raise whoot whoot! I think the most important thing is that he isn't being so demanding on his old body which just turned 28 this past Monday :) I love that he is home 3 days on the weekend and he does too! We are so grateful that this opportunity 'came his way.' This man has come a long way in the last 5 years that we have been married and I love to watch what a great dad he is and how he is developing as a person. I'm trying to notice little things more that I have in the past-how he interacts with others in public and the kindness he shows to everyone- just little things that I have ignored with a busy life. Kenny is an amazing person. I do love this man!
Deagan is just the most amazing thing in my life. I can't imagine what it is like to just be 'Kayla' or 'Kenny's wife' and I wouldn't have it any other way. Deag can count to ten- well if you start with one he will chime in 'two...three..pour...eight...ten!' I love it! He is learning his colors and is toilet training'ish'. I think the toilet training thing will come in his own time and will get better when I am home but he really is getting the concept of what is going on. I am so proud of this little guy! Kenny takes him outside to shoot the bow a lot and to ride in his truck or on his tricycle on nice days and I love to take Deagan for walks and to the park. One of his favorite things is to check the mail the entire process which he does with little to no help at all! Why do kids have to grow so fast?...wait kids?...no...why does my baby grow so fast?!
We have an appointment to take him to an orthepedic specalist at Primary Children's in two weeks for his toes. The middle toes under cross on each foot which was lovingly passed to him genetically by his father who when he was younger had his toes fused straight. It makes me ill to think that Deag may have to go under for surgery-even if not this year at some point I'm sure he will. It's a scary thought but I just count my blessings that it is for something so easily fixable and not terminal.
I have been thinking a lot. Which probably scares most, but it's time to get life in order and to have fun! This Summer is going to be a BLAST for us we have a lot planned :)
Well I'm in such a writing mood that I could just continue on on my many-a-thoughts but I'll end it there. Hope everyone that reads this (haha if there is anyone) is well and that you are soaking up all of lifes adventures!

A crazy little thing called...LIFE!
Oh my goodness it's been nearly a year since I have posted last...there is good reason behind my tardiness, life has just been so chaotic right now and I don't think its going to let up anytime soon!
Deagan is getting sooo big he just had his 2nd birthday! He talks so much and is obsessed with trains right now! He loves watching movies which I must say I am not too fond of mysef-I feel so lazy when he is watching a movie or cartoons-but he loves them so I suppose in moderation they are fine. We are working on toilet training him and he is getting the idea...now he just needs to get the concept but I think it will take hold when he allows it! He loves to play and shoot his bow with dad outside in this awesome snowless winter. I can't imagine my life without this little guy he can make the sun shine on the cloudiest day! We keep asking him if he wants a baby brother or sister and he 'says' he does...so I think we will get working on that now that my Thyroid levels are regulated.
Oh about that! Funny thing- well... I had my Thyroid out over winter break! I thought I had a swollen lymphnode from having a cold but it wouldn't go away...then I was assigned to do a Thyroid Cancer presentation in class and made an appt to have my thryroid checked. The ultrasound reported that there were 13 nodules on both lobes of my Thyroid. I saw Dr. Beus who offered a series of treatments but opted for surgery because of the extensive family history of Thyroid issues and cancer. I recovered well and haven't had any problems so far...unless you count taking double the amount of meds for the 1st week...which made me feel like a million bucks actually I was full of energy haha!
The nursing program has been so fun but a lot of work. I feel like I have been absent from my family for the last 6 months but it will be over before we know it! I started clinicals and am enjoying it so much! Can't wait to be done with this little stretch of school!
Kenny has been doing well also! He is taking a job with Heath Poulson testing drilling equipment. I think he will like it a lot better and the future is a lot more bright! He has been ready for a change of job for a while and his body has been telling him the same thing especially after his back injury this past summer. Kenny really enjoyed working for Alan and the Shermans were so kind to us, we were treated like family and are so thankful for all they have done for us they are truly great people! Sometimes life offers changes at oppertune times which was the case for Kenny's job.
Bella is still around outback and we can't wait for the mud to dry up so playing with her is less...dirty! Hopefullly we can plant a big garden again this summer we enjoyed spending time in the garden last summer and profited a lot of home grown goods!
We have been so blessed to have the things life requires us and it's easy to get lost in posessional wants. But life has been so good to us this last year and we are so thankful for our health and happiness!
Hopefully I can start keeping up on this blog thing...!! I really do like to jot down our ins and outs and all abouts!

Deagan's 1st Birtday--Turning into a BIG Boy too!!
We celebrated Deag's 1st birthday this past January and it turned out so GREAT!! We threw Deagan the coolest birthday party I've ever personally been to with a Dinosaur theme. We were a bit behind on schedule that day but everything was so awesome!! The cake I practiced and practiced was perfect, the dessert table which sported: rice krispie pops, smores on sticks, cake, cupcakes with buttercream frosting and super cute cupcake toppers and a variety of sweets in jars for the kids to choose from; was so fun and dinner was a bit less interesting but still ok for cold Navajo Tacos. I made home made 'Dino Dough' and put together a grab bag for each of the kids that braved the party!! We had so much fun with all the family that came and appreciate all the support!! SO back to the crossed off cupcakes...so I LITERALLY spent H-O-U-R-S making chocolate & vanilla cupcakes with cute foil wrappers, carefully and generously frosted with buttercream icing from the market and adorned with super cute cupcake toppers that I had designed just for his birthday-well they all turned out AMAZING and as Kenny the culprit was in a mad dash to get things loaded in the car that day the huge cake box I put them all in gave-way in the middle of the living room. Frosting smashed and smeared into our lovely baby blue carpet...crumbles of cake lifeless on the floor and Kenny staring at it as them as they were going to pull themselves back together and jump back in the box to be enjoyed by our guests...Lovely :) Oh well so besides being an hour late getting our own party started and the 'Great Cupcake Disaster' everything turned out PERFECT!!
Our baby I'm afraid is no longer, a toddler is however what he is on the brink of!! I have learned so much from Deagan, myself and Kenny this last year and am so thankful to have such a perfect little family, I did learn from myself to definately 'NEVER SAY NEVER.' I always said that my baby would NEVER sleep in my bed with me, well I totally LIED, for the last year we have been living the Family Bed Life and we are all content with it. I love crawling in bed and nestling my nose in Deagans sour little neck and having him cuddle up to us, I love not having Kenny's hair against my back and legs on my side of the bed, but we decided that since Kenny built such a beautiful crib it needs to be used before he outgrows it height wise- which won't be long! We also thought it would be a good idea so that when we transition the cirb into a toddler bed he should know that it's his bed and that's where he sleeps...so he isn't escaping into our room!!
We have successfully got him to sleep in his room 4 out of 6 nights by being brutal in implementing the cry it out method, the other two nights were terrible and he became so upset he vomited his just-eaten 8oz of milk--all over. One of the nights he fell asleep sitting up like a tired little teddy bear it was so so cute!!
If you can't tell Deagan is OUR LIFE he has grown so much in the last month I can't even believe it, his '1yr' pictures are still not even done yet thanks to the craziness of life!! Deagan is a walking chatting little person that loves us and follows us EVERYWHERE!! We love him so much and he maks us so so very happy! He is saying 'mom, thank- you, baby, dad and wow, ua oh, and ah ah (for no no)'

Merry Christmas--Happy New Year--Crafty Couple
CHRISTMAS
We had a great Christmas and are so grateful to have such an amazing little family. Having a baby made Christmas fun again and it's going to be a great opportunity to teach Deagan the True Meaning of Christmas. Kenny and I had a great time on Christmas eve as Mr. and Mrs. C!! Christmas morning was awesome to see Deag's face and hear him say 'wow' in a soft whisper, I had to wake him up because I was so excited!! We were blessed to spend a lot of time together since I got called off Christmas night!

| After Santa Came |
We rang in the new year by looking at the inside of our eyelids...Man aren't we are exciting? I worked new years eve-eve (night shift) then my handsome hubby took me shopping the next morning for my big B Day-after 2 hrs of sleep and being awake all the previous day- but we had a lot of fun, however by the end of the day our endeavor for ringing in the New Year was...well lost!! We did learn while shopping that it is pretty much a pain in the butt to take a baby with a stroller because you end up dragging clothes all over, setting off the alarms at the door because of the jeans stuck in the wheel of the stroller and well just fitting where you want to go in the first place!! GOSH!!
CRAFTY COUPLE
We hope that everyone had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Cheers to the excitement and learning that this year will bring!!
Deagan's thing lately is to point, he has figured out how to turn around and lower himself off the bed and couch, he is WALKING about 8 steps and when he falls he grunts 'ugh', he also loves his Train he got for Christmas and thinks its funny when he 'hurts' us...haha we are bad parents maybe :) He is a very jealous boy and gets easily upset when Kenny and I are hugging, or if anyone for that matter is too close to either of us! We absolutely love to be parents and are learning so much from him everyday!!

Halloween-- A Mess to Clean--Pictures Taken By the One & Only Mrs. Mean
Well, let's begin with HALLOWEEN! We had a lot of fun carving pumpkins a few days before Halloween- we made Jack, Sally and the infamous mountain on Nightmare B4 Christmas! What an adventure! I never thought I would like Halloween again until we put Deagan in his Triceritops costume in front of the mirror and he jabbered to himself and laughed at himself for 20 min straight! We took him to a few family's homes and family friends homes to show him off and get some treats for us which was a lot of fun! We continued with our Halloween tradition by joining Kathy & Brian beck 4 dinner and a 'scary' movie...Hocus Pocus!! Man life gets intresting with maturing doesn't it?
A MESS TO CLEAN... As you may know I am the World's Worst Cook, I want Deagan's birthday cake to be PERFECT and made by none other than ME of course so I attempted to 'practice' it...It's suppose to be a 3d Dinosaur on top of 2 rounds covered in fondant..homemade fondant...but we basically got runny fondant and other frosting and a huge mess! But it was sure fun!
MRS. MEAN PHOTOSHOOT
I just made up that pet name for myself...I quite like it! But seriously have you ever tried taking pics of a mobile child that can't understand what you want them to do?! It was rediculous and I felt kind of mean trying to make him sit there...and not eat leafs! It was fun though despite most of the shots were more funny than something I could save and the random blur in every pic from a dirty lens...O well I guess in all things is a learning expierence and a lot of mommy n me fun!
P.S.
